Our wine growing tradition runs back to 1680. Since then we have been making our wines in the traditional way completely dry with no additives. Randersacker is located in the heart of Franconia next to the Dom Capitol of Germany “Wuerzburg”. Randersacker has been growing wine since 779. Ninety percent of the slopes are steep and have at least 30% inclination.

Weingut Trockene Schmitts, lies directly in the centre of Randersacker at the "old" market square. We are a small family run winery that cultivates appr. 12 hectares, which is about 30 acres wine hills that spread out through the entire community. Since 2002 Paul and Bruno both put their traditional philosophies together and made 1 winery out of two. Since then the two brothers have been working together successfully as "Weingut Trockene Schmitts."

Grape Varieties

Silvaner is still the traditional grape variety for Franconia, followed by Müller-Thurgau and Riesling which is "king of white wines" not only in Germany but all over the world. Additionally we offer Weißer-Burgunder (Pinot Blanc), Kerner, Rieslaner and other whites. As for red wines we have Spätburgunder(Pinot Noir), Domina and Portugieser. We are still restructuring vineyards in order to stock up the amount of reds, which develop superbly in the Franconian region.

The grapes for our wines are all selectively hand-picked. All our wines are bottled with one grape variety and completely dry. For cultivating the wines we use oak casks, barrique casks(small wooden casks 220 liter) comes from France, as well as stainless steel tanks, so the wine can develop until it has found its own ideal and complete state of harmonic delight. It is also is a prerequisite for an adequate ripening and aging in the bottle.

Our well-equipped apartments have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The size of the apartments is between 40 and 60 sqm, and each apartment has a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bath/wc.
