Winzergenossenschaft Jechtingen eG
Germany, Baden, Kaiserstuhl

Baden is the southmost and with its 15.500 hektar third largest wine region of Germany. The Kaiserstuhl is one of the nine famous wine regions within Baden, a vulcano mountain, extending in the Rhein-river valley between the city of Freiburg in the Black Forest and the french mountains, the Vogesen. Throught centuries of wine-cultivation it has been modelled into an outstanding, unique landscape. Sanddust, crossing the alpes, covered the land in the ancient days and in addition with the vulcanic stone, turned into furtile loess soil. Wineyards cover most of this ground. Thanks to the almost mediterranian climate –it is known as Germans warmest region-, more than one quarter of the Baden wine grows on the Kaiserstuhl on 4.200 hektar.
The village of Jechtingen is situated on the west parts of the Kaiserstuhl, between the Rhein-river and smooth hills with large wineyards in the sunny south of Baden. The cooperative-building is at the extend of the top wineyard-site Steingrube towards the exit of the community on the route leading from Sasbach to Burkheim. The visible and distinctive historical mark of Jechtingen is the 700 years old ruin of the citadelle of “Burg Sponeck”. Jechtingen wines grow on 190 hektar, that gently cover the sunfloated terraces and vulcanic suspends. The “Classic”-wines from Jechtingen are a specialty with a strong typical regional character, expressing temper, elegance and subtile fruit. Each one is an extraordinary, sensual and exciting tasting experience.
